Our Story

Toby’s Estate began in 1997 when Toby Smith, a lawyer with a love for coffee, made a bold decision. He left his legal career to follow his passion. Toby travelled to remote coffee-growing regions around the world. He lived with local farmers and saw the care and effort they put into growing top-quality coffee beans. Inspired by their dedication, Toby wanted to share this special coffee with others.But there was a challenge: how could he bring these amazing beans from farms to people’s cups while keeping their quality and story alive?

Worried about mass-produced coffee taking over the market and driven by his respect for the farmers, Toby took action. Back home, he turned his mum’s garage into a small roastery. There, he learned the art of roasting specialty coffee, and Toby’s Estate was born.
